orbit /ˈɔːbɪt/

1) the curved path of a celestial object or spacecraft round a star, planet, or moon, especially a periodic elliptical revolution. 2) an area of activity, interest, or influence.

turtle /ˈtɜː(r)t(ə)l/

Frequently depicted in popular culture as easygoing, patient, and wise creatures. Due to their long lifespan, slow movement, sturdiness, and wrinkled appearance, turtles are an emblem of longevity and stability in many cultures around the world.

Orbiturtle was born out of a conversation between saxophonist Dave Jackson (AUS), Japanese drummer/tabla player Ko Omura (JPN) and I during a tour of Japan in 2014. Reflecting our etymology, Orbiturtle is the medium- and instrumentation-flexible platform we formed to curate new collaborations between artists from across the Asia-Pacific region and establish another conduit for the intersection of eastern and western art and philosophy.
